Three nymphs with a Cornucopia. Rubens 1625-8

Shown at Dulwich Picture Gallery in January as part of the Rubens' Women Exhibition. This oil sketch was made in preparation for a larger painting and has all the immediacy of a drawing. The composition is brilliant, and although the subject seems archaic, the idea of women enjoying bountiful excess is universal.
